Longueville Manor has once again joined forces with The Fresh Fish Company to highlight World Oceans Day on Friday 8th June through a pop up event by the sea.

The local businesses will combine at The Fresh Fish Company harbour side shop to highlight the plight of the oceans campaign to the public through tastings, education and talks. The AA 5 Red Star Longueville Manor is also supporting the initiative throughout the week by offering a special ‘Ocean’s Menu’, which is available until the 9th June, championing sustainable seafood.

Relais & Châteaux are supporting World Oceans Day on an international scale. Their mission is to raise awareness of the real danger facing oceanic biodiversity. The principle causes are overfishing and the use of destructive fishing techniques such as deep sea bottom trawling and illegal poaching. This has resulted in 58% of the planet’s seafood stock having been fully fished and a further 31% continuing to be overfished.*

The destruction caused by industrial fishing is also leading to employment problems for artisanal fisherman, which is why the partnership with The Fresh Fish Company on 8th June is so important. Between 11am and 1pm members of the public will get the chance to talk to Longueville Manor’s Executive Head Chef Andrew Baird as well as to local companies such as Jersey Oyster and local fishermen to understand their local practices and the challenges they face in Channel Island waters.

Longueville Manor already uphold three pledges as part of their support for the campaign; to promote artisanal fishing, to contribute to local development by giving priority to local sources, and to select species when in season.

Super League is back in Jersey and if the 2017 racing was the aperitif then get ready for the main course!

Last year we saw the Corporate Mix relay on offer alongside the Pro racing but this year the team behind Super League have truly thrown the doors open adding Age Group racing to the programme along with Junior and Youth races and a festival of entertainment.

2017 saw some of the most high tempo and heart pounding racing the triathlon world has ever seen – now anyone who wants to be part of the action and feed off the energy of some of the worlds best professional triathletes can sign up and race.

The pro field will be taking on the epic course in the Elizabeth Marina in picturesque St Helier; and whilst you watch all their efforts unfold you can now experience what it is to race this course across the whole weekend.

There are a range of options available to accommodate anyone who wants to have the full package thrown at them or break it down a little and enter as a relay team or mixed relay.

Individuals can race the full Enduro:

FOLLOWED BY, in true Super League Style, A REPEAT!

Or take on the Super Sprint which is a single set of the above distances without the repeat to give a slightly more entry level yet challenging race. This is fast paced racing on closed roads and a tight course packed with spectators – it is genuinely the closest thing you’ll find to the pro triathlete experience.

The individual and relay races will take place on the morning of Sunday 30th September giving the participants enough time to smash themselves across the course, get some recovery and settle in to watch the pros show how it’s done! Do you want to know how close you can compare times to some of the very highest level performers on the planet in the same location, with the same conditions and carried along by the same roaring crowd – then this is for you!

For those who want to take on the challenge together you have the option of doing Enduro or Super Sprint race format.

In the Enduro Team Relay event- both single gender and mixed – each participant completes the 400m swim, 10K bike and 2.5K run before handing over to the next member of the team.

In the Super Sprint relay – both single gender and mixed – each participant completes only one discipline before handing over to the next member of the relay team. The same distances, 400m swim, 10K bike and 2.5K run but each team member is assigned to complete one of the three choices. This is where your tactical nouse as to who does what really will make a difference and could mean either standing on the podium or watching the awards ceremony from a distance so play to your strengths and choose well.

Once the racing is completed you’ll be greeted with a Super League Triathlon goodie bag, finishers medal and awards ceremony – the full pro experience! There will then be time to relax and enjoy the buildup to the professional championship racing from the Fanzone which will have a full range of entertainment for the whole family – including live music, fun activities and a well stocked bar offering both non alcoholic and alcoholic options.

The offerings across the Super League weekend in Jersey are more than simply signing up for a race, you’ll be signing up for a true triathlon experience not only for the individual racing but for their whole family and their supporters. From the moment you arrive on the island of Jersey, the weekend will feel special and elevated above anything you’ve raced before. You’ll be guided through the weekend by the expert SLT team who understand the pressures this type of racing can bring and are there to make the whole experience as enjoyable and seamless as they can.

Beyond the Super League Triathlon bubble in and around the course Jersey is a welcoming island, easily explorable in a short time but with a range of hidden treasures, beaches and gastronomic delights. The thriving town of St Helier is just the start as beyond its reaches you’ll find remote stretches of sand, beautiful vistas and a range of different activities to cater for everyone. Want to try kiteboarding then head towards the beach or just fancy exploring the island by bike then follow the well trodden path and you can cover all of the island in a single day at a relaxed pace with time for lunch.

Lord Michael Hastings CBE will visit Guernsey on 22nd and 23rd May to ensure Sustainable Development is high on the Island’s agenda. The esteemed businessman, who is visiting the Island on behalf of KPMG in the Channel Islands, will attend school numeracy workshops and chair a business seminar.

Lord Hastings became KPMG International’s Global Head of Corporate Citizenship in 2006. Since then, he has presented widely and driven change in regard to global business sustainability and responsibility.

On 22nd May, Lord Hastings, who began his career as a teacher, will be attending Amherst Primary School to facilitate numeracy workshops as an extension to the wider firm’s sponsorship of National Numeracy Day held on the 16th May. Alongside the headmistress, Tracey Moore, and several KPMG volunteers, he will host two maths sessions titled ‘Max’s Marvellous Maths’, focusing on basic numeracy support, and the ’24 Club’, focusing on advanced numeracy support. In addition, Lord Hastings will be discussing the importance of numeracy skills at a school-wide assembly.

On 23rd May, Lord Hastings will present to an audience of senior business leaders, governing bodies and politicians at a KPMG seminar. The event will focus on the UN’s set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which are aimed at making the world more prosperous, inclusive, sustainable and resilient. Lord Hastings will talk about KPMG International’s involvement in this initiative and will foster a wider debate on the role of businesses around the world to support these global goals.

In addition to business leaders, KPMG have also extended the seminar invitation to sixth form students from a number of schools across Guernsey, to give them the opportunity to engage and contribute to the wider debate.

Prior to becoming KPMG International’s Head of Citizenship, Lord Hastings joined the BBC as Head of Public Affairs and then became its first Head of Corporate Social Responsibility. He is also a trustee of the Vodafone Group Foundation and previously served for nine years on the Board for Responsible Business at British Telecom. He has represented KPMG on the Global Corporate Citizenship Committee of the World Economic Forum (2008-2010) and in 2009 became a Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Council on Diversity and Talent. He is listed as one of the 100 most influential black people in Britain and No.6 on the 2016 list of 100 Black British Business Leaders.

In 2005, he was awarded the honour of an independent peerage to the House of Lords by Her Majesty The Queen. In the same year, he also received the UNICEF award for ‘outstanding contribution to understanding and effecting solutions for Africa’s children’. Lord Hastings is also Chancellor of Regents University London.

Microsoft Business Solutions specialist, Corefocus, have grown their team, upgraded to a new office and invested in digital skills. The expansion marks a period of enhancement for the local company which is focused on developing local talent and providing high quality service to clients in the Channel Islands.

Corefocus have announced the appointment of Senior Developer, Nicholas Clyde-Smith. As an expert in web, API and app development he will be working to deliver high quality bespoke software solutions to clients.

Sustained growth at Corefocus means the team has increased in size over each of the last five years, resulting in the need for a new office space. With a larger footprint to accommodate the team, the office is situated directly above their previous premise, offering plenty of room for the team in a modern, inspiring, working environment.

The company has also pledged to lead the industry in up-skilling local talent in order to support the Island’s Digital Industry. Four members of the team have recently completed the latest exams in Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Click Dimensions (a best of breed marketing solution), including Matthew Falle (22), who joined the team last year as Junior Developer, after successfully completing an undergraduate summer placement with the company in 2015.

Claire qualified as an English Solicitor over 20 years ago and as a Jersey Advocate in 2006. She previously worked at Payne Hicks Beach, one of the leading family law firms in England. She has extensive experience of acting for high net worth matrimonial clients in the resolution of complex financial issues, and frequently those with an international element.

Louise qualified as an English solicitor with a leading City Law firm in 2001. She has over a decade of experience in the offshore banking and funds sectors, having worked as a Legal Counsel at Deutsche Bank and Kleinwort Benson, and as an Associate in one of the Island’s largest law firms. Her responsibilities included advising on company acquisitions and the migration of banking and investment management businesses to different jurisdictions, as well as providing general corporate and commercial advice to all areas of the business.

In Louise’s role as Senior Associate, she will significantly augment Oben’s delivery of services to its financial services clients in terms of both regulatory and legal work.

The Santander International Golf Day, featuring Santander’s newest brand ambassador Annabel Dimmock, took place on Wednesday 25 April at the Royal Jersey Golf Club, raising almost £1,000 for Autism Jersey.

Annabel, who is currently playing in the Ladies European Tour, joined over 30 of Santander International’s staff and guests for a relaxed day on the green. The 18 holes were followed by lunch, served in the Royal Jersey Golf Club, where guests had the opportunity to question Annabel Dimmock on her life as a professional athlete. Guests also heard from Karen Gallichan, who Santander International is sponsoring to swim the Channel in aid of Autism Jersey.

Annabel turned professional in 2015 at the age of 17, after first playing golf aged eight. Highlights of her career include; representing Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup; winning the Scottish Amateur Open in Troon, the Jones Doherty Matchplay in Florida and the Sunningdale Foursomes; and representing team GB in the Youth Olympics.

Annabel Dimmock, Professional Golfer and Santander Brand Ambassador, says:

Santander International are pleased to announce the appointments of Estelle Armour and Steven Dubberley in Jersey. Mrs Armour joins the bank as Head of Mortgage Sales and Mr Dubberley as Relationship Director.

Mrs Armour will take an important role as Santander International prepare to launch mortgages for Jersey residents for the first time. Her responsibilities include product design, customer experience and working on mortgage sales strategy and processes.

With more than 12 years’ experience in the mortgage arena, Mrs Armour has comprehensive knowledge across the full range of mortgage practices and applications. She comes to Santander International after working for a global banking business as a Senior Mortgage Manager, where she was responsible for the implementation of a new mortgage framework for Expat clients. In her new role, Mrs Armour will be instrumental in developing the mortgage customer journey, implementing risk management strategies and delivering excellent customer service.

Steven Dubberley is a highly accomplished professional with over 30 years’ experience within the financial services industry, based in the Channel Islands and the UK. His career history includes relationship management, team leadership, business development, sales management and private clients in regulated IFA and Banking environments all with focus on the HNW/UHNW segment.

In Mr Dubberley’s new role as Relationship Director for Santander International, he will be looking after an array of clients including high-net worth individuals, trustees, asset managers, law firms, family offices and fund administration businesses. His main responsibilities include originating new to bank relationships, managing and maintaining a portfolio of clients, and ensuring excellent client service provision and exemplary corporate governance.

Mr Dubberley is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments and the Chartered Institute of Insurance. In his spare time, he enjoys a range of sporting activities with his two boys (aged 11 and 13), loves to travel with the family and has a keen interest in Jersey history. Mrs Armour is a member of the London Institute of Banking & Finance. In her leisure time, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends and her two cockapoos. She is also a sports and music fan and has recently joined the Jersey Hospice Choir.
