The brief.

As part of The Moorings Hotel and Restaurant’s new ownership and renovation, we were engaged to reimagine this long-standing establishment in line with modern expectations whilst retaining its respected heritage. The family-run hotel would also be expanding its offerings and services and any new website would need to reflect this.

What we did.

Taking cues from the original ironwork of the building, a fresh and modern brand was created. A sympathetic colour palette and typographic style set the scene across a warm and welcoming website, all very much in keeping with the harbour-side location.

The broad demographic appeal of the hotel and restaurant was important and this needed to be reflected in the brand and accessibility of the website. A visual balance was achieved between sophisticated evening dining, informal bistro lunches, family-friendly accommodation and activity-led relaxation.

The client was specific about having an online experience that would contribute to the hotel’s character. A number of options were considered and discussed before the final version was agreed which challenges the norms for hotel websites but works perfectly in this instance across all platforms.
