Terms and Conditions for Domain Name, Web Hosting, and Microsoft 365 Email Services (UK)
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the provision of domain name registration, web hosting, and email hosting services (including Microsoft 365 services) by Alpine Limited trading as The Refinery (“we”, “us”, “our”) to the customer (“you”, “your”).
By purchasing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Services Provided
We provide the following services:
- Domain name registration, renewal, and transfer
- Web hosting services
- Email hosting services, including services powered by Microsoft 365
- DNS and related infrastructure services
All Services are provided subject to availability and may be modified or withdrawn.
3. Domain Name Registration (General)
3.1 Domain registrations are subject to the policies of the relevant registry or authority.
3.2 You are responsible for ensuring your domain does not infringe third-party rights (e.g. trademarks).
3.3 Domain registrations are not guaranteed until confirmed by the registry.
3.4 Domain names are licensed, not owned, and require ongoing renewal.
4. .JE and .GG Domain Names (Channel Islands)
4.1 Where you register a .JE or .GG domain, you agree to be bound by the official registry terms published by Channel Islands Domain Registry (Island Networks), including those available at:

4.2 You acknowledge that:
- Registration constitutes a contract directly with the registry
- Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and may be refused at the registry’s discretion
- Domain registrations are subject to annual fees payable in advance
- The minimum registration period is one year
4.3 Cancellation of a .JE or .GG domain must comply with registry procedures and may require notice prior to renewal to avoid further charges.
4.4 You agree that registry terms may change from time to time and will continue to apply to your domain registration.
5. Microsoft 365 Email Services
5.1 Where we provide email hosting via Microsoft 365, we act as a reseller or intermediary.
5.2 Your use of Microsoft 365 is subject to:
- These Terms; and
- The applicable terms of Microsoft, including the Microsoft Customer Agreement and Product Terms
5.3 You acknowledge that:
- Microsoft is responsible for the underlying service infrastructure
- Service features, uptime, and availability are governed by Microsoft
- We are not liable for outages or failures originating from Microsoft systems
5.4 Licences are subscription-based and must be paid in advance.
5.5 Failure to pay may result in suspension or deletion of accounts and data.
6. Payment Terms (Including Stripe)
6.1 All services must be paid in advance unless otherwise agreed.
6.2 Prices are stated in GBP and may be subject to GST where applicable.
6.3 We use Stripe as our payment processor. By making a payment, you agree to:
- Stripe’s terms of service and privacy policy; and
- The secure handling of your payment information by Stripe
6.4 Payments may be processed using:
- Credit or debit card
- Bank payment methods supported by Stripe
6.5 We do not store full payment card details on our systems.
6.6 Where recurring services are purchased, you authorise us to:
- Automatically charge your selected payment method via Stripe;
- Collect renewal fees for domains, hosting, and Microsoft 365 subscriptions unless cancelled in advance
6.7 If a payment fails:
- We may retry the payment automatically;
- Services may be suspended or terminated;
- Domain names may expire or be lost if not renewed in time
6.8 You are responsible for keeping your payment details up to date.
7. Refund Policy
7.1 Domain registration fees are non-refundable once processed.
7.2 Hosting and Microsoft 365 services may be refundable only where explicitly stated.
7.3 No refunds will be provided where services are suspended due to breach of these Terms.
8. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to use our Services to:
- Violate UK or applicable international law
- Send spam or unsolicited communications
- Distribute malware or harmful content
- Infringe intellectual property rights
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate Services for violations.
9. Customer Responsibilities
9.1 You must ensure all information provided is accurate and kept up to date.
9.2 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials.
9.3 You are responsible for backing up your data unless explicitly included in your service.
9.4 You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable laws.
10. Data Protection
10.1 We process personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
10.2 In providing hosting and email services, we may act as a data processor on your behalf.
10.3 You remain the data controller for any personal data processed through the Services.
11. Service Availability
11.1 We aim to provide reliable Services but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
11.2 Maintenance, updates, and third-party outages may affect availability.
12. Limitation of Liability
12.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for:
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business
- Loss of data
- Indirect or consequential losses
12.2 Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the Services in the preceding 12 months.
13. Suspension and Termination
13.1 We may suspend or terminate Services immediately where you breach these Terms.
13.2 You may cancel Services subject to any applicable notice period.
13.3 Upon termination, access to Services may be withdrawn without liability.
14. Third-Party Services
14.1 Certain Services rely on third-party providers (including domain registries and Microsoft).
14.2 We are not responsible for failures caused by third-party services.
15. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in our systems, infrastructure, and materials remain our property or that of our licensors.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
